Interesting Back Story to the War
- I had just read some other books about the Civil War, which made me curious about this book. I found it fascinating. These mini-biographies of some seventy people involved in the Civil War tell interesting details about many people I had never heard of, as well as well-known personages. It is perfect for giving one some back story and an overall look at the war and its ramifications into many different areas of life. I liked that it did not focus on specific battles or political maneuvering, which are so one-sided, but instead looked at the people themselves, with pertinent details about their lives and their connection to the war. Barry Press’ narration is excellent.
