Wow...the first one is the best so far!

The audio book of Casino Royale is GREAT! I wasn't expecting it to be as tense as it was and Dan Stevens really understands the tension in the writing. The "cane chair" scene that stands out in the film is not just fully intact here, but actually is MUCH more brutal.

A wonderful surprise
- I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this book, even though the recent film based on it is one of my favorite movies. I just wasn't expecting them to be so similar considering the number of decades between them. There is plenty of suspense and intrigue, and Dan Stevens is a phenomenal narrator. All of his character voices are distinct and interesting, and he sounds intimately familiar with the story, giving his performance a nice, easy flow. There is a rather brutal torture scene, so be forewarned if that type of thing bothers you. But this is a marvelous audiobook.

Author Bio: Ian Fleming
Ian Fleming was born in London in 1908. He was educated at Eton and worked as a journalist in Moscow and a banker and stockbroker in London before becoming personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. He wrote his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, at Goldeneye, his home in Jamaica, in 1952. Since then James Bond has gone on to become a global phenomenon.
