Shocking and compelling
- I think of all the books in the series this one has possibly the most universal appeal, yet also is most reliant upon the story told in the previous books. The central characters are like forces of nature that cannot be controlled, yet possibly exist to create positive change in those who are trying to stop their destructiveness. But there is more to them than just challenging their environments — they have a story of their own and there is redemption in it. It is easy to get caught up in the action of this story, which fits in well with the series as a whole. More important than any one character is the setting and the humanity of the other characters that we have gotten to know already.
