Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“Ripped from the headlines..His books tell unvarnished truths that many prefer to ignore.” Wall Street Journal, praise for the author
“The crafty agent, assisted by his usual assortment of secret sources, trade-craft tricks, and sex-hungry female informants, tracks the killing back to the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin’s desire to eliminate potential rivals…Be prepared for the author’s distinct signature: raunchy, detailed sex.” Publishers Weekly
“Is the British government helping Moscow in a cover-up? Malko Linge, an Austrian version of James Bond, is assigned by the CIA to find out why British MI5 won’t investigate the supposed suicide of Boris Berezovsky. Narrator Nicholas Guy Smith moves through the curt dialogue and lengthy descriptions in clipped tones that set the tone for a story of international espionage. Smith is consistent in his delivery, maintaining a steady pace and pitch throughout the complicated action sequences. There are many characters, settings, and motives for the listener to keep track of. Smith’s Russian-accented English rings true and helps differentiate speakers in the large cast.” AudioFile

Author Bio: Gérard de Villiers

Gérard de Villiers (1929–2013) was a French writer, journalist, and publisher. He remains the most popular writer of spy thrillers in French history. His two-hundred-odd books about the adventures of Austrian nobleman and freelance CIA operative Malko Linge have sold millions of copies. Malko Linge, who first appeared in 1965, has often been compared to Ian Fleming’s hero James Bond. The two secret agents share a taste for gunplay and sex, but de Villiers was a journalist at heart, and his books are based on constant travel and reporting in dozens of countries.
