A Favor for Fantasy Fans

City of Eternal Night is the second book in a series by Kristen Painter. So, if you liked the first you’ll probably enjoy this.
This story has all the elements fantasy fans thirst for: a buff horned hero, a magical tree that grows inside an old mansion, the political struggles of the faes (human-like creatures with intriguing powers), a “dead” mother stuck in some netherworld whose friends and family can visit by propelling themselves through a mirror. Lots of spells, a witches’ feud, bloodcurdling violence, and an evolving romance.

The narrator, Elijah Alexander , does an exceptional job in creating and maintaining distinctive voices for a widely disparate collection of interesting characters.
