Trained from a young age in the arts of death and deception, Natasha was given the title of Black Widow by Ivan Somodorov, her brutal teacher at the Red Room, Moscow’s infamous academy for operatives. Ava Orlova is just trying to fit in as an average Brooklyn teenager, but her life has been anything but average. The daughter of a missing Russian quantum physicist, Ava was once subjected to a series of ruthless military experiments—until she was rescued by Black Widow and placed under S.H.I.E.L.D. protection. Ava has always longed to reconnect with her mysterious savior, but Black Widow isn’t really the big sister type. Until now. When children all over Eastern Europe begin to go missing, and rumors of smuggled Red Room tech light up the dark net, Natasha suspects her old teacher has returned—and that Ava Orlova might be the only one who can stop him. Adventure, romance, and intrigue
- This is a great story that will get you hooked very quickly, it is family-friendly and young adult oriented. Excellent for adults who enjoy the Marvel SHIELD characters. The romance that threads through the story gently sucks you in, it is not overdone which I personally appreciated. The action keeps the movement going, interspersed with notes from a "DOD hearing" that break up the flow nicely. The reading is spot on, Julia Whelan has a husky feminine voice that adapts surprisingly well to masculine characters. Black Widow herself is emotionally removed and sometimes puzzling in her inability to relate to others, which makes it all the more fulfilling when you see behind her armor.

Make It Her Movie
-
For those just dying for Black Widow to get her own solo movie, your time has come. Oh, wait. Scratch that. So perhaps it’s not her own movie, but it beats the other books available out there for the solo adventures of the various Avengers. Those are junior novelizations of the movies. This is a completely original YA adventure.
In this high-action, super-spy thriller, we get to learn more about Natasha Romanoff and how she became the Black Widow. Additionally, we are introduced to Marvel’s newest comic book hero: Red Widow. The pacing of action is well tempered with soul-searching moments in which Romanoff reflects on her place in life and what she believes to have been her life.
If you’ve wanted a Black Widow movie like I have, this is it. Take a copy of the print version, grab a portable stereo system and blast this audiobook outside Disney headquarters, and join me in chanting “Make it a movie! Give Black Widow her own movie!”
