Mike Yorkey grew up in La Jolla, California, believing he would be a sportswriter. After writing for the La Jolla Light and the Oregon Daily Emerald, he took a detour to Switzerland where he skied, butchered the French language, and taught tennis lessons for over a year. Once back in the states, Yorkey took several reporting jobs that eventually led to writing projects of all kinds and has since collaborated on more than 75 books.
