Editorial Reviews

Faithful isn't just about the Red Sox. It's also about family, friendship, and what it truly means to be a baseball fan and to be—well, faithful, come hell or high water…The season was full of priceless moments, and King and O'Nan catch nearly all of them in amber.” Boston Globe
“A sweet romance…the details are priceless.” People
“King and O'Nan are the kind of fans who make for great baseball companions: knowledgeable, opinionated, funny, and irreverent.” USA Today
Faithful is ultimately a quasi-religious book about what all great religions should be founded upon: love—in all its blindness and terror and euphoria and purity and, yes, addiction.” Entertainment Weekly
“Will provide Red Sox readers an opportunity to relive every nail-biting moment of a memorable season.” Publishers Weekly

Interesting for Hardcore Baseball Fans

This was a really interesting experiment in baseball fandom. O'Nan and King certainly picked a great season to follow for the book, effectively keeping diaries and exchanges throughout the season. It's about as in-depth a look as you can get of people who love everything about baseball, especially their team. King certainly likes to talk about himself a lot, but O'Nan does the better job chronicling the season and keeping himself out of the narrative, besides discussions of his fandom and Red Sox bias.

This book isn't for the casual fan, but if you're a baseball obsessive it's a lot of fun, whether or not the Red Sox are your team.
