This is a new edition of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mystery, The Hound of the Baskervilles. It’s the same story. Mostly. That is, it contains the same characters, the same action, and much of the same dialogue. What’s different? Well, it’s a little shorter, a little leaner, a little less verbose in some sections. But the chief difference is that it’s now narrated by a dog. A greyhound, in fact, named Septimus. In this new edition, he tells his story of how he became “The Greyhound of the Baskervilles.”

Nice read!

Sherlock, England, detective, mystery

***** Take the original, put it in the hands of a skilled abridgement editor, rewrite that abridged edition from the viewpoint of Sherlock's own intelligent greyhound, and voila! Now you know the basics of this short book that I enjoyed so much!
Steve Hendrickson does a great job of enhancing the characters' personalities and make the story even better!

Excellent work by the delightful narrator who is even better than Basil Rathbone.

I love the narrator's performance as any of the characters!

Author Bio: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a writer and physician most noted for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, the first scientific detective, which are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction. Before becoming a writer, he attended the University of Edinburgh to train as a physician, and it was from his teacher, Joseph Bell, that he learned much of what would inspire Holmes’s skills of deduction. He also wrote science fiction stories, historical novels, plays, romances, poetry, and nonfiction. After his son Kingsley died in the first World War, he became a convert to spiritualism and a social reformer who used his investigative skills to prove the innocence of individuals.

Author Bio: John Gaspard

John Gaspard is the author of the popular Eli Marks mystery series, about a working magician who stumbles into murder cases. In real life, John’s not a magician, but he has directed several feature films that cost very little and made even less—and that’s no small trick. He’s also written multiple books on the subject of low-budget filmmaking. Ironically, they’ve made more than the films.
