When Newbery Medal winner Neil Gaiman and Emmy Award winner Michael Reaves teamed up, they created the bestselling YA novel InterWorld.   InterWorld tells the story of Joey Harker, a very average kid who discovers that his world is only one of a trillion alternate earths. Some of these earths are ruled by magic. Some are ruled by science. All are at war.   Joey teams up with alternate versions of himself from an array of these worlds. Together, the army of Joeys must battle evil magicians Lord Dogknife and Lady Indigo to keep the balance of power between all the earths stable. Teens—and tweens and adults—who obsessively read the His Dark Materials and Harry Potter series will be riveted by InterWorld and its sequel, The Silver Dream.

Editorial Reviews

“Christopher Evan Welch voices a cadre of diverse characters: an evil guard, a benevolent teacher, a robotic pal, a gentle infant, and a crusty mentor. Joey’s journey is one of friendship, and Welch aptly depicts his generous spirit as Joey meets the story’s various characters. Welch makes the story come alive in every dimension.” AudioFile
“A mind-stretching ride for which all tweens and teens (and many adults) will be grateful.” VOYA (starred review)
“Vivid, well-imagined settings and characters.” Booklist
“What InterWorld gets exactly right…[is] the all-too-real childhood fear that if we're away from comfortable surroundings for too long, our families and loved ones might eventually forget who we are, and that someday we might never be able to return…[InterWorld's] purpose is not to dispel this fear for its readers, but rather to provide them with irresistible incentive to take those tentative first steps into unpredictable worlds beyond.” New York Times

Story

This science fiction fantasy novel for young adults is well worth reading at any age.

Neil Gaiman does it again, this time with young adult fiction that combines sci fi and fantasy, magic and spirit. He explores scientific things in a way that is completely accessible to a younger audience and completely entertaining to an older one. Furthermore, the narrator does an unmatched job of creating characters that are engaging and feel alive. I have never before been motivated to seek out audio books simply to listen to a narrator, but I will be looking for more of his work after this.

Great Book Invoking Alternate Universe Thoughts

This book is classified as a HC kids book but this book is truly for everyone if you like getting lost in a world within worlds. The protagonist has the power to go to another dimension of Earth and beyond, where he meets... Himself? Great book, not difficult to follow and is a great tale of alternate universes that must be saved
