Fighting to survive in a ravaged world, a Dweller and a Savage form an unlikely alliance in New York Times bestselling author Veronica Rossi's "unforgettable dystopian masterpiece" (Examiner.com). Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive. A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. In alternating chapters told in Aria's and Perry's voices, Under the Never Sky subtly and powerfully captures the evolving relationship between these characters and sweeps readers away to a harsh but often beautiful world. Continuing with Through the Ever Night and concluding with Into the Still Blue, the Under the Never Sky trilogy has already been embraced by readers in twenty-six countries and been optioned for film by Warner Bros. Editorial Reviews

“Narrator Bernadette Dunne [Flagler’s] husky voice captures both the intense survival story and the earnest young love that emerges. The novel’s point of view alternates between that of Aria and Perry, yet Flagler keeps each distinct. There’s action from the get-go, and Flagler sounds like she’s as caught up in the whirlwind as the characters…A fun take on the current dystopian trend.” AudioFile
“A pure delight. Narrator Bernadette Dunne [Flagler] flawlessly moves from character to character, giving each one a distinct persona. Sure to captivate listeners.” Library Journal
“[Dunne Flagler’s] capable reading brings suspense and dramatic action to listeners’ ears…A satisfying way to experience Rossi’s gripping tale of survival, love, and loyalty.” Booklist (audio review)
“Fans of The Hunger Games will cheer Aria’s gradual, warrior-like transformation over the course of the novel.” Booklist
“Rossi grounds her worldbuilding in language, creating idioms for the Dwellers and Outsiders that add texture to their respective myths; her characters brave and complex and her prose smooth and evocative. Inspired, offbeat, and mesmerizing.” Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
“A debut author to watch. Under the Never Sky has a Star Wars feel, complete with charming enemies-turned-friends-turned-lovers romance and the juxtaposition of futuristic technology amongst a barren landscape. The story is told in alternating narratives by the two main characters, which Rossi pulls off nicely…A standout.” RT Book Reviews (4 stars)

Very good first part

Very good first book in the dystopian YA trilogy, and Bernadette Dunne is an excellent narrator as usual (though my favourite work of hers will always be the Sharing Knife books by Lois McMaster Bujold).

Entertaining story for fans of Dystoppian YA novels

I listened to this book because it had been on a list recommended for fans of the Hunger Games. I won't go so far to say it is a similar book--the romance between the main characters if much more the main focus and than the over throw a repressive regime--but it was entertaining. I particularly like the evolution of two starkly contrasted worlds, one a tightly controlled environment entirely reliant on technology to distract from reality and the harsher outside world where portions of the population have developed extra sensory abilities. Great summertime light reading. The main characters were compelling and the writing was well done. I would definitely read more this author.

I generally struggle with narrators in the beginning of any book. Especially when you can feel they are not quite capturing the intent of the author. Bernadette Dunne has done a good job allowing the story to take the lead and embodies the characters thoroughly.
