A cold case that almost escapes being solved
- Ted Taylor has a natural talent for suspenseful storytelling. In Creature Discomforts, another cold case takes Gus and his team on the search for a sniper, each of the team satisfying the reader/listener with diverse personality approaches that keep Taylor’s style of solving crimes fresh and always entertaining. Their sniper chase reveals Grant Burnside was the victim. The leader of a ruthless gang pushing drugs, trafficking, and prostitution gives the listening audience an opportunity to consider does the cause justify the means. Given Burnside’s family of adult children, one of whom gets off on torturing anyone suggesting an obstacle to his criminal activity expendable, provides little sympathy in the hearts of the listener. All in all, however, this is no less enjoyable than his other books. Recommended.
