#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Prepare to be entranced by this addictively readable oral history of the great war between humans and zombies.”—Entertainment Weekly We survived the zombie apocalypse, but how many of us are still haunted by that terrible time? We have (temporarily?) defeated the living dead, but at what cost? Told in the haunting and riveting voices of the men and women who witnessed the horror firsthand, World War Z is the only record of the apocalyptic years. The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. World War Z is the result. Never before have we had access to a document that so powerfully conveys the depth of fear and horror, and also the ineradicable spirit of resistance, that gripped human society through the plague years. THE INSPIRATION FOR THE MAJOR MOTION PICTURE “Will spook you for real.”—The New York Times Book Review “Possesses more creativity and zip than entire crates of other new fiction titles. Think Mad Max meets The Hot Zone. . . . It’s Apocalypse Now, pandemic-style. Creepy but fascinating.”—USA Today “Will grab you as tightly as a dead man’s fist. A.”—Entertainment Weekly, EW Pick “Probably the most topical and literate scare since Orson Welles’s War of the Worlds radio broadcast . . . This is action-packed social-political satire with a global view.”—Dallas Morning News

Great Stories!
- Now I am not a fan of "journalistic" writing for stories, but this was fantastic! One of the many things that I liked about this book and the movie, is that each compliment each other. Whether you saw the movie first, or listened to the book, it only enriches your experience. This is an All-Star cast. The narration is top notch. Great zombie audiobook!

Great Performance and Story
-
Let me first start off by saying that the book is nothing like the movie! I cannot offer any advice on whether you should see the movie first then listen to the book or listen to the book then see the movie. I listened to the book first then saw the movie and it was an enjoyable experience. The movie is events of Gerry's survival when the outbreak happens and the book is after the war.
Moving onto the book! I was deeply surprised by the performances of all the actors and how quickly they sucked you in. The emotions, accents, and attitudes were great! I especially enjoyed Alan Alda's character. There were a few that were okay but the rest were phenomenal!
You follow along with Gerry, a United Nations employee that just finished his "official" report to the U.N. about the events of the Zombie War. He is now wanting to give a more emotional history of how everything happened and the stories of those who survived and made an impact.
As I said before, the performances are great and you can easily feel the emotions of the people Gerry is interviewing. Gerry starts from the first outbreak to current events of the world clearing the remaining Zeds or Zombies. The entire story starts out great and flows very smoothly. However, when you get towards the end there are some "unbelievable" scenarios and the interviews become short and somewhat meaningless.
All in all, if you are a fan of Zombies or want to listen to a great audio book, this is it! I highly recommend this book for anyone!

Outstanding Audio Achievement
- This is how you do an audiobook! The performances turned in by this star-studded cast are phenomenal. There were only two performers that I felt fell short of the mark…and that’s out of around forty performers. Having a different actor play every character made this one of the most engaging audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. The story itself seemed to have been very well researched and thought out. Max Brooks covered every angle of the possibilities of a zombie war, and he captured many different points of view, people from around the world, including Russia, China, Cuba, Canada, Australia, the US, India, and many other countries. Each is fascinating and gripping in its own way. The short interviews at the end of this edition seemed unnecessary, but other than that this story was entertaining through and through. If you like zombie stories, apocalyptic fiction, or postapocalyptic fiction, this is a great listen.
