Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“Narrator Dylan Baker does a terrific job of delivering this fast, irreverent, complex, and idiosyncratic Wall Street exposé on high-frequency trading (HTF) in a way even non-investors will find informative, entertaining—and scary. Baker uses speed, the lifeblood of HFTs, to infuse his narration with heart-pounding excitement. Baker’s perfect pacing amplifies the story’s intensity and drama in a way that only a truly gifted narrator can.” AudioFile
“A riveting, maddening yarn that is causing quite a stir already, including calls for regulatory reform.” Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Excellent

I feel like I have a much, much better understanding of what the stock market is, rather than what it was, after listening. Well-written, concepts are clearly explaining, generally fascinating. The author does an excellent job of connecting the "faceless" (Wall Street, high frequency trading (and traders), stock markets) with individuals and situations.

Highly recommend for anyone who has an interest in technology, finance, real-life detective stories (technology-based), or structures within the modern world in general.

Lewis at his best

"Flash Boys" is an exceptionally well-written introduction to the world of high frequency trading on Wall Street. Lewis' knack for finding interesting and enjoyable real-world characters and using them to shed light on a complicated issue is in full effect. He makes you laugh and that helps you understand. The narration gets of to a very rocky start, but quickly finds good form and helps underscore Lewis' storytelling. A must for all Michael Lewis fans and those who want to understand how technology is changing the world of finance.
