Need a zombie fix?

These days it is difficult for me to turn away a chance to listen to a zombie audiobook, even harder when Jonathan Maberry is involved. Additionally after finishing up Tales from the Fire Zone, which seems to be a companion to Hungry Tales, and knowing to expect short zombie tales I couldn’t resist. I have heard nothing but good things about Hungry Tales and I hope that I can add a bit to the hype!

Just like Tales from the Fire Zone, Hungry Tales contains 5 short stories all by Jonathan Maberry and all containing zombies in one form or another. I really appreciate how Mayberry was able to span the genre with the different styles of tales from the comedic, to the super creepy, to the familiar. This is for those of you who want a quick fix of the undead and don’t have time to get fully into a full length story. Jam-packed with Maberry’s distinctive pulse pounding action sequences and edge of your seat jaw dropping suspense.

Tom Weiner is quickly becoming one of my favorite horror audiobook narrators. His voice is so incredibly versatile, with starting off with a super deep and booming voice, to be able to create believable voices for children, women and seemingly any accent that you could think of with ease, is amazing to me. Weiner’s pacing is perfect, know exactly where, when and for how long to pause to create the maximum possible effect upon the listener.
