I wasn't dazzled but I liked it.

I know this is crazy to say but I have never read a Mary Higgins Clark book before listening to this one. I have watched the made for TV movies based on her books and I have always liked them, just never got around to the books.

I’ve Got You Under My Skin was an interested mystery suspense about Laurie Moran a producer who has had one to many flops and needs a good show to save her career. She decides to try a true crime show about a graduating gala from twenty years ago that ended with the murder of Betsy Powell. She was the wife of Robert Powell a wealthy man who put on the gala for Betsy’s daughter Clare and her friends.

For the past twenty years each of the girls, plus Robert have always had the murder hanging over them. People look at them and wonder if they were the one that killed Betsy. This TV show gives them a chance to prove they didn’t do it and try and find out who might have been the killer. Returning to the scene of the crime has all the ladies on edge and it seems like they all have secrets.

Meanwhile, Laurie has a pair of blue eyes watching her closely. For some reason he wants to killer her and thinks that the TV show will be the perfect time to finish what he started five years ago.

I’ve Got You Under My Skin is a very interesting mystery and I really couldn’t figure out who the killer was because they each has such great motives. Though I did have my suspicions between a couple of people and I got one right. The other mystery surrounding who on earth was ‘blue eyes’ and why he was so interested in killing Laurie and her son kept me going because I was so curious about who he was. It wasn’t an intense murder mystery but it was very intriguing.

Laurie is still saddened by the death of her husband five years ago, but she is trying to make a good home for herself and Timmy. She puts all she has into this new show hoping that it will salvage her career. She is a likable character though you really don’t get to know her very well. All of the suspects had interesting backgrounds and it was interesting to see them unravel under Alex’s questioning. Alex, is the criminal attorney that Laurie brings in to question each of the girls for the show. He has an intense record as a criminal attorney and she knows that if they have something to hide he can bring it out in them. All of the characters throughout the novel are interesting, but I thought that Laurie needed some more background since she is the main character.

If your a Mary Higgins Clark fan or a lover of mystery novels then I might recommend you try this one.
