Honor killings, witchcraft murders, and the machinations of rival gang lords Kali, Indian goddess of destruction and change, weaves her dark spell in a complex crime novel of fear, deception, brutal killings, and power mongering. When an unidentified young Indian bride is ritualistically murdered, Detective Inspector Tom Kendrick and forensic anthropologist Elizabeth Bell are mobilized to hunt down the perpetrators. But Kali keeps spinning her web. Elizabeth finds herself in mortal danger, and a criminal network involved in illegal immigration and drug production gradually emerges from the shadows. Meanwhile, small-time crook Suyaal Ackhbaar is being blackmailed by a vicious gang lord into delivering unsuspecting immigrants to work as slave labor in a drug factory. Kali’s Kiss is John Dodds’ follow up to the novel Bone Machines, which introduced DI Tom Kendrick. This second book in the series takes listeners on a fast-paced journey into the underground of Glasgow’s multicultural community, exploring issues of race, politics, and twisted human motivations.

Robin Sachs' superlative narration
- As I mentioned the my review of Bone Machines, I am the author of this book, so my review is about the performance rather than the narrative (allowing for the immodest star rating, since that field is required to submit a review). Robin Sachs does an incredible job here, as an actor, a voice artists with an incredible range, and he captures the flavour and the tone of the book perfectly. Blackstone Audio are my heroes for taking these books and I am really proud to be in their line. Robin's performance of the Indian Doctor, Devindra Prasaad is simply wonderful, and has to be my favourite characterisation in the book. Robin will be missed.
