Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“This sequel to Killer Instinct, about a teenage serial killer, amps up the suspense…Green keeps the mystery and suspense at fever pitch even as she thickens her plot with new characters and complications. Lane’s present-tense narration keeps readers guessing right along with her. The twists keep turning right up to the blood-soaked ending in this satisfying thriller.” Kirkus Reviews

Decent second book to a series

Killer Within takes place a little bit after what happened in the first one. It didn't take me long to remember what happened in Killer Instinct and the fallout over what Lane discovers about her family. I don't know if I can talk about this with out some spoilers from the first book so read at your own risk!

Lane was the Masked Savior, a vigilante in Killer Instinct and it was a rush to bring justice to those who have wronged others. After the end of the first novel she hasn't been to keen on being that person even though the feelings are still there. Though someone else has decided to take up where she left off, but this person isn't doing the MS any good. Whom ever it is he/she is giving the MS a bad name.

So Lane has to try and figure out who it is because she doesn't want to get blamed for anything that this copy cat has been doing. Along the way she finds out more about her mother and how twisted she was and that she also has an aunt who was like her mother. Lane is learning that she was being groomed to be like her mother. She is also afraid that maybe her mother had gotten to her sister Daisy as well.

Lane has to do what ever she can to protect her name, find a copy cat, and make sure her sister is normal.

I was pretty sure I know who the copy cat was but there was one person that did take me a little by surprise.

Lane is an interesting character, she is like a Dexter in training..lol. She has had these urges since she was young, but she only just starts remember things from when she was young. It's these things though that are triggered in her the older she got and she needs the adrenaline that comes with being the Vigilante. She knows it's bad and after the fallout in book one she really is trying to be better, especially now that she knows more.

I can't wait to see what is going to happen next with Lane and if her sister has been affected by anything.

The Narrator:

Emily Woo Zeller did a decent job with this but her male voices just are not very good. Over all though she did okay.
