Ending is lacking
- I love Karin Slaughter's books, but this one lacked a proper ending.
-
A compelling story of chance and courage.
- Ms. Slaughter has written a compelling story here that never disappoints, complemented by the perfect reading of Kathleen Early. The story concerns itself with the murder of Charlie’s lawyer father (Charlie being the main character) and her struggle to recover. Eventually getting her own law degree, she sets out to be of help to those who are at a loss as to who to turn to. When she comes upon Flora Faulkner, a motherless young girl in her teens who desires to become emancipated, Charlie is determined to help. As the story progresses, Charlie finds that Flora’s troubles are greater than she shared, leaving Charlie perplexed as to just how far to stick her neck out for this girl who seems to find the truth difficult to admit. This is a book that will not disappoint
