Witty, funny and worth returning to and sharing
- David Sedaris reads his own essays in this audiobook. This audiobook is great for listening to with other people, especially in the car. A great bonus to the audio edition is the appendix with contributions from Pimsleur language, a topic of one of Sedaris' essays.

As always, worth a listen
-
David Sedaris is fun to listen to. I’ve read some of his work as well, but I think hearing him read his own stuff is the way to go. My favorite essays and stories of his are the ones in which he makes observations while abroad—both how we perceive other cultures and how they perceive us. This book contains plenty of these types of essays. He also spends quite a bit of time on his childhood and family, as usual, and while much of it is pretty interesting, I tended to be less engaged in those parts.
Though this wasn’t my favorite of his works, I do recommend it. I think it’s worth a listen. There are definitely laugh-out-loud moments sprinkled throughout that will keep you wanting to move forward. For anyone with family woes, it may help you try to see your issues in a more humorous light…or at least put things in perspective.
