Editorial Reviews

“Tina Seskis, if this novel is anything to go by, is one of the world’s leading experts at pulling the wool over readers’ eyes until the very end.” Sophie Hannah, New York Times bestselling author of The Monogram Murders
“Tina Seskis’ twisted psychological thriller keeps readers guessing at Emily’s secrets until the end.” Us Weekly
“A haunting psychological thriller…Believable yet shocking with a great twist, this is well worth a read.” Sun (London)
“A gripping thriller that will delight fans of the unexpected twist ending.” Grazia (Italy)
“Taut, compelling…a storming read.” Bookseller Books of the Year 2013
“As Cat teeters from being nearly indigent to becoming a confident if reckless Londoner, her experiences on her own make for a diverting read.” Publishers Weekly
“Seskis reverses the classic methods of such predecessors as Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy by distancing us from her characters in order to keep us ignorant of the driving force behind their actions until the climactic conclusion…Designed for readers who appreciate the journey and are willing to invest the time to reflect on its significance once the destination is reached.” Library Journal
“A skillfully done novel by a writer to watch.” Booklist
“Excellent, dramatic pacing, dialogue, and prose, culminating in poignant concluding chapters which examine Emily’s decisions without sentimentality. An evocative, skillful novel about the price of escape. Recommended.” Kirkus Reviews
“The dual narration in this enjoyable audiobook is artful…Both performers have smooth, well-trained, and beautiful voices and handle the drama with conviction and flair. The story…is well made and interesting, with a twist at the end you will not see coming.” AudioFile

Author

Author Bio: Tina Seskis

Tina Seskis grew up in Hampshire, the daughter of an airline engineer and a sales rep. Her parents bestowed upon her a certain degree of eccentricity: her dad among other things built a boat in the front garden on their commuter belt housing estate, moved them into a touring caravan when their new house wasn’t built, and took them all over the world with his free air travel and limited budget. Tina studied business at the University of Bath and then worked for over twenty years in marketing, advertising, and online, with varying degrees of success. Tina never intended to write a novel. She wrote One Step Too Far over a two month period in summer 2010 and then gave up writing entirely for well over a year, before writing her second novel, A Serpentine Affair, in autumn 2011. Tina lives in North London with her husband and son.
