The artifact is a vast circular ribbon of matter, some 180 million miles across, with a sun at its center. Pierson’s puppeteers—strange, three-legged, two-headed aliens—discovered this “Ringworld” in a hitherto unexplored part of the galaxy. Curious about the immense structure, but frightened by the prospect of meeting the builders, they set about assembling a team to explore it: Louis Wu, human—old and bored with having lived too fully for too many years, seeking an adventure, and all too capable of handling it. Nessus, puppeteer—a trembling coward from a species with an inbuilt survival pattern of nonviolence. This particular puppeteer, however, is insane. Speaker-to-Animals, kzin—large, orange-furred, and carnivorous. The kzin are one of the most savage life-forms known. The party’s expedition, however, goes disastrously wrong when their ship crash-lands and its motley crew faces a daunting trek across thousands of miles of Ringworld territory.

One of my favorite novels
- I first listened to this for free during the dot.com boom. When I found it on this site for purchase, I didn't think twice before buying; it is one of the best narrations I have heard of any novel, and it is one of my favorite novels. Larry Niven seems more clear-minded in his storytelling in this Ringword priemere than he does in sequels, which drown in drugs and sex (Wireheads and Rishathra).

Wonderful with a few quirks
- I really enjoyed this book. While I agree that this is fine piece of science fiction literature, there were parts that were a little slow and the ending is abrupt. But at its core, Ringworld is a real treat of science fiction. The audiobook is very well read and the characters come alive. Would definitely recommend.

A true gem of Science Fiction
- For any person who identifies as a fan of science fiction, Larry Niven's "Ringworld" is at the top of the list for must read books. A true pioneer of the genre, Niven's seminal work has been an inspiration to many and true joy for millions. I am so glad to be able to add this audio version to my collection. I like the narrators voice and I look forward to listening to Ringworld again and again.

A must for Larry Niven fans.
- A must for fans of Larry Niven's fine sci-fi series. Grover Gardner's award-winning voice tells an engaging story of art, technology and imagination. Good for when you want to escape.

Grover Gardner
- By far the best Narrator in the Audiobook Business, if you are a Si-Fi audiobook fan you'll love Grover's voice. The story telling here is just out of this world. Pun intended. I read the book when I was 16 and just listen to this recently, what a ride!

Science Fiction at its finest!
- What a great book! I was hooked after the first couple pages, which seems to happen less and less these days. Being a huge sci-fi fan, I can be extremely skeptical, but was pleased at how rich the characters are, and how close I felt to them through the story. Grover did a great job narrating, bringing that amazing sense of patience and realism needed to bring it all to life.

Sci-Fi at it's Best!!!
- This audiobook is great. The mind is transported to an alien place far out in space. One can't help to become apart of this tale. Once again Grover Gardner proves why he's one of the best in the business.

Huge Fan!
- As a big fan of classic Sci-Fi I was excited to find Ringworld as an audio book. The reader did a top notch job of storytelling and Ringworld itself is a classic! I'm still convinced that it is the Inspiration for the Halo universe and if you play the game you'll see the connection. Even if you don't play the game I suggest checking out the book as it is a really fun/imaginative world created by one of the greats of Sci-Fi

Ok as recommended
- I remember a few of my friends recommending and referring to this book a great deal while I was growing up. As I did not like reading much, and did not know much about audiobooks at the time, I never really gave much consideration to the series. When I found out that Downpour/Blackstone Audio carried this title, this became my first real experience to the series, as well as audiobooks. I am now hooked. The book was written very well and narrated by one of the best readers in the industry, Grover Gardner. I would recommend this title and series to any scifi buff.
