Kennedy Cross had her heart broken early in life. It wasn’t someone or something who betrayed her—it was her own body. Despite it being all she’s ever wanted, Kennedy will never feel her baby’s feet kick from the inside out. Having been pronounced infertile at only eighteen, she redirected her life the best way she could. Eight years and a degree later, Kennedy is one of the most well-loved first grade teachers at Rock Falls Elementary School. It doesn’t matter that her college boyfriend left her because he wanted children of his own. She has twenty-two of the most gorgeous six-year-olds, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Jackson Steele deals only in extremes. He falls victim to manic episodes lasting for days, sometimes weeks at a time, sending him reeling from volatile highs to devastating lows. It’s a living hell just being inside his own mind, and that hell has taken everything he’s ever loved away from him. But what if, this time, it gives him something? An untimely gift from God and a brunette with legs eight miles long will bring him unforeseen joy—and his most challenging test yet. What happens when circumstances of life threaten the one thing both Jackson and Kennedy love? Saving Steele from himself may prove to be too much for Cross to bear.

Story

Rock Falls is a place to fall in love with!

This series just keeps getting better. Anne Jolin has created this sense of community with a group of characters that keeps delivering the most enjoyable listens. Finally we get to hear how Jackson has evolved. We had gotten to see him in previous books, but this one is on point with his illness and how he handles the things life throws at him. Right from the beginning, an unexpected turn shows up at Jackson's door...a six year old boy claiming to be his son. Ryker is the splitting image of Jackson, and the immediate response is love and protectiveness. A hands on dad from that day on, Jackson enrolls Ryker in school and he gets to meet his teacher, Kennedy. And the sparks fly. Kennedy has her own set of issues to deal with and is not ready to. Put these two together, with the self made family, the possibility of a custody battle and bipolar disorder and this book is taking them for a ride. I love this journey the two are on, their evolving relationship and how they truly are smitten. Their banter and love is so evident that it is easy to get caught up in the story. I have to say though, as much as I love Jackson, Ryker stole my heart. That young boy is smart and lovable, easily stealing my heart.

Aiden Snow and Lucy Rivers are an incredible narration team, giving these characters warmth and emotion. The two give life to this ensemble cast and bring you right into the fold, making you feel like you are right there with them.
