Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“Well-written and funny…An entertaining journey through the strange rhythms, adventures, ritual, and mojo after the breakup of [the Police].” Sacramento Book Review
“An often hilarious, always candid, and astutely observed memoir chronicling a life observed, largely, from the vantage point of a drum throne…A rollicking read.” Buffalo News
“The ego-driven tempests that have articulated the life and times of the Police are laid out by Copeland in a fresh and honest way, not without self-implication either. More than anything else, however, Copeland makes readers feel as if they were on stage with him, Sting and Andy Summers, sharing with us the thrill of performing with one of the great bands of all time.” Publishers Weekly
“Lively…With the passion of a musician enamored of his art, Copeland conveys his entire musical journey, from spraying the name of the just-formed Police on walls in London in the late ’70s to his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame several years ago.” Kirkus Reviews
“Copeland avoids providing a full accounting of his life thus far, instead choosing to focus on what he sees as the true adventures…The stories themselves, however, are compelling and Copeland delivers them with a healthy serving of wit.” Guitar International

Author Bio: Stewart Copeland

Stewart Copeland, former drummer for The Police, counts himself fortunate to have been a founder of the most played and successful trio of the 1980s and reunited with his band mates after twenty-three years to open the Grammy Awards in February 2007. The Polices reunion tour in 2007 went on to be the biggest of the year, grossing more than $247 million. Recipient of the Hollywood Film Festivals first Outstanding Music in Film Visionary Award and a 2003 inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Copeland has been responsible for some of the film worlds most innovative and groundbreaking scores. His career also includes the sale of more than 40 million records worldwide, which have won five Grammy awards. In search of exotic rhythms and musical celebration, his travels have taken him around the world, from mysterious Easter Island to Mozambique, and from the outback of Australia to the remotest regions of the Congolese jungles. He is the father of seven children and lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Fiona Dent.
