In the digital age, information, both true and false, spreads faster than ever. The same technology that provides access to data across the globe can abet the warping of truth and normalization of lies. In this audiobook, we examine the intersection of truth, untruth, and technology, including how social media manipulates behavior, technologies such as deepfakes that spread misinformation, the bias inherent in algorithms, and more.

Eyeopening exposure

As our technology grows, so too does mis-information, lies and the nurturing of fantasized behavior as real, as truth. In this Scientific American exploration of the subject, the idea of what constitutes the tipping level when fact becomes fiction and pliable minds absorb untruthful information. Of perhaps the greatest misdeed is technology’s abuse of the algorithm ability to amass close to infinite information, but at the same time, offer the algorithmic edge to twist consensus into out and out lies in many instances, especially among the plithera of social media outlets. A timely read for anyone interested in a respectful analysis
