“This is a wonderfully clever and inventive tale full of magic, yet still contemporary and believable. The author’s subtle yet very effective use of foreshadowing keeps the reader engaged, and the surprising ending has a lovely dose of bittersweet romance and a good dash of optimism.” RT Book Reviews
“Dark’s letter-perfect gothic style is a satisfying tribute to previous gothic novels, and the paranormal elements, including incubi, fae, vampires, and witches, make this a stellar romance…Vivid and enchanting.” Booklist (starred review)
“[Juliet] Dark develops a complex, detailed world where magic, reason, and gothic literature enjoyably intersect.” Publishers Weekly
“The pseudonymous Dark, author of literary thrillers in her alternate life, seems to have hit on something nice and juicy for fans of Deborah Harkness’ A Discovery of Witches.” Library Journal
