Beginning just less than seven hours after The Gunslinger ends, in the second installment to the thrilling Dark Tower Series, Roland encounters three mysterious doorways on a deserted beach along the Western Sea. Pretty good

First off, the narrator changed from the first book in the series, and at the beginning of the book this was very off putting. I loved George Guidall's work on The Gunslinger, so it was not an easy adjustment for me to make. However, the second installment of the Dark Tower series starts with some of the most memorable scenes I have ever read/listened to. The story starts with a hilarious bang, but quickly fizzles out for me. The story drags quite a bit after the beginning, and lingers over long on characters I initially had almost zero interest in. As a whole though, the book was entertaining, and I eventually grew used to the narrator and his different pronunciations/characterizations, and even became interested in what lay in store for said characters. Looking forward to the next installment.

A mysterious and puzzling intro into the Dark Tower series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book very much but I must admit at times it did seem to drag. There's alot about the character that is slightly confusing and puzzling but at the same time pulls you into this odd and strange world. I think George Guidall's performance is beyond perfect for this world. I am very anxious to read the rest of the series.
