This author feels like a best friend
- This book made me feel like the author is a close friend of mine who is standing just behind my shoulder to kindly and gently make suggestions to help me make better decisions about my health. She has such a warm way about her. And at first I thought the author was narrating her own book. The actual narrator, Karen White, does such a fantastic job that it had me fooled! Although Kathy Freston is a New York Times bestselling author, I had never read any of her books before. But The Lean got my attention. It is described as “a practical and simple thirty-day plan to transform your health and jump-start weight loss in the most gentle and automatic way possible.” I found this to be exactly true. The book definitely delivers on its promise to help you gradually and gently “lean into” a healthy lifestyle. Even though I was already doing some of her recommendations, it was an eye-opener on a number of suggestions that were news to me but which I found to be extremely helpful in sticking with a better food and exercise plan. The advantage of having this book in audio format is that I can listen to it in my kitchen while preparing food or while I’m exercising. And getting this nice voice to repeat the parts that I need to hear again and again is very helpful.
