Each soul’s journey through life on planet earth is an adventure. The greater picture of the billions of lives and their stories is a cosmic phenomenon we can never fully comprehend. But with our God-given intuition and creative power, we can imagine. And in our lives, we learn that there is inner guidance available to us if we merely tune in. Growing up with best friend Steve Martin was inspirational, says Morris Walker, author of Steve Martin: The Magic Years, also available from Blackstone Audio. Morris has written books, short stories, essays, articles, songs, poems, and countless scripts and comedy routines. The Lives of Carl Atman is a book he has wanted to write for many years—maybe even lifetimes. His hope, above all else, is that you enjoy the journey.

Editorial Reviews

The Lives of Carl Atman is a moving novel, mesmerizing from the first story on, pulling you right away into the fascinating journey of an unfolding soul. Once I entered the story, it was impossible to put the book down. I sat up past the midnight hour, fully caught up in the saga, experiencing emotions of excitement, inspiration, tears, and ‘aha’ moments of my own. The book grabs your heart on many levels and touches you in the deep recesses of your own soul, stirring, moving, poignant. It is expansive in its wide scope of time, history, and nationalities yet pulling together a love story of the purest passion and emotion.” Dr. Dorothy Jackson

Story

Twice now I have enjoyed being transported through time with Morris Walker's book!

The first time I read the book I really enjoyed it. It really did take me through time - a love story not to be forgotten!
The second time I listened to the book! Oh my gosh - I did not think I could revel any more in the heartfelt story of two people's lives weaving through time and space....
The reader was excellent. I listened while I took a few moments to relax. The problem was I had to actually make time to go further into the story! It was so captivating, I truly was taken to another time and place.
The author must have done quite a bit of research during the writing of the book...and the reader made it come to life in a way I couldn't imagine. I was there - in those times and places.
Though I loved the book when I first read it - I was totally taken back by what I had missed during the first reading. I commend your reader, and I truly commend the author. It would make an outstanding movie as well.

a total surprise

Once in a while, I'll take a stab at a genre that I usually don't gravitate towards. Most often I am reminded why I avoid it to begin with. Occasionally, as is the case with Carl Atman, I am not just pleasantly surprised, but completely transfixed and captivated from the first few moments. This is TOTALLY not my "thing"...but I loved this book. Basically the same story told from different perspectives over different parts of history and indeed, quite possibly from parallel dimensions it is a simple love story that actually can include things like (but not exactly) dogs and cyclops. The narrative style is similar to that of David Mitchell. (Cloud Atlas, Ghostwritten, and others)
