Brand, a jaded, fast-talking ex-thief with a shaky moral compass and a total disbelief in magic, and his unlikely companions—Cil, a female gladiator, equally rugged, beautiful, and cantankerous; Berengar, a gigantic northerner, equal parts lighthearted, ridiculous, murderous, and profound; and Alucard, a two-foot-tall fish-man magical experiment, who happens to be the only one able to master the art of magic—embark on a fast-paced, bizarre, humorous, and at times terrifying adventure through an immersive yet decadent fantasy world set 2.5 million years ago on Earth. The Living Light: From Gods to Ashes is full of immoral, quirky humans; innocent yet deadly monsters; and a rigid magical system with a dark moral flaw at its core. A blend of dark fantasy adventure, absurdist humor, cosmic mystery, and sword-swinging action, listeners will be engrossed in realistic and enjoyable small-talk moments weaved into a grand, world-building tapestry.

Author Bio: Taliesin J. De Launey

Taliesin J. De Launey was born in Lismore, Australia, the son of a Croatian–Aboriginal Australian mother (Wiradjuri tribe) and a Scottish-English father who left when he was one. Raised by his mother in a turbulent, criminal-connected household, he found refuge in the creative arts. As a child, he often ran away to his grandmother’s house, where she taught him advanced reading and inspired his passion for storytelling, and has since pursued a life of learning, with a deep focus on literature and writing. De Launey has worked in the field of community service for the past fifteen years, including the last seven in New York City, where he volunteered in high-risk communities, supporting anti-violence, addiction recovery, and literacy programs. Want more stories or to reach out to the author? Join Alucard (Taliesin’s pen name) on Fantasy Stories, Comedy & Horror by Alucard—Taliesin’s Substack portal to the world, where he shares his love of the strange, the magical, and the hilarious. Explore ongoing story threads, regular posts, and Taliesin’s fast-growing show, Alucard’s Fantasy Podcast, at AlucardJDeLauney.substack.com
