Now an HBO limited series starring Ben Mendelsohn! Evil has many faces…maybe even yours in this #1 New York Times bestseller from master storyteller Stephen King. An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is discovered in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens—Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon have DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad. As the investigation expands and horrifying details begin to emerge, King’s story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

Great Book
- I would give this a 4 and a half stars, but since Downpour doesn't do half stars, and I don't round up on ratings, this is a very solid 4! My only hesitation to give it 5 stars was a slow start to the book. The beginning had chapters of police interviews every other chapter, and to me, it interrupted the flow of the story. I do now see that they were relevant, but they were also annoying. But that is just a personal issue on my part. Once the book had me in its grasp, it did not let go, and I enjoyed the ride the rest of the way. It's no secret that the character Holly Gibney from the Bill Hodges trilogy makes an appearance. I've read reviews where people disliked that. I'm all for "to each his or her own". Holly was my favorite character from the BH trilogy. I connected with her unexpectedly, and each time she appeared, both in the BH trilogy and The Outsider, it was like a breath of fresh air. She is one of Sai King's better characters, and I stand by that statement. I also wasn't bothered when the book turned from crime mystery to supernatural. Great read, and I recommend it!
