"Beautifully written and engrossing, The Pink Suit gives us an extraordinary alternative reality, transforming JFK and Jackie's romance into the unforgettable love story of a seamstress and a butcher. Kate and Patrick are wonderful creations, and the evocation of the early 1960s is moving and convincing. Infamous Replica

Very few garments are as well-known as the pink suit that Jackie Kennedy was wearing the day that JFK was assassinated. This story uses the backdrop of how that particular suit was crafted to tell the tale of an Irish immigrant struggling to make it in America while working for famous haute couture house Chez Ninon. Although Kate’s story drew me in enough to care about what happens to her and to sympathize with her many obstacles, I most enjoyed the details about Jackie, the negative media coverage of her at the time and subsequent influence it had on her shopping decisions, and the exceptionally cumbersome process it takes to create a certified replica of a high-end fashion designer’s work. In this case, it was the Chanel suit. Most people think that what Jackie wore was a Chanel, but in actuality, it was a replica. The end of this story is a downer, but it is the most fitting end based on the character of Kate. I enjoyed Gabrielle de Cuir’s narration and voicing choices for the most part, but would have preferred she give the famously French designer Coco Chanel a French accent instead of one that is reminiscent of Boston Brahman.
