The first-ever book to tell the stories of the hundreds of inspiring women who wrote Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals A supplemental PDF is included with the audio. There were the women who pounded the pavement selling their songs in Tin Pan Alley at the turn of the twentieth century, to the women who broke new ground writing shows during the Great Depression, to the women who penned protest musicals fighting for social justice during the 1970s, to those who are revitalizing the landscape of American musicals today. Women Writing Musicals is the first-ever book to tell the story of the legacy that our history books left out. Women finally given Musical writing credit
-
Anyone interested in Broadway musical creations will be intrigued with each woman that Tepper takes on has their own section which makes it rader and listener friendly in that one could listen for short durations and not fear of not being able to follow if were not in this mode. She even gives substantial time to the unsung hero women writers of musicals that have been overlooked. After all, the history of women writing musicals needs respectable space in a writer’s choice of examples as we all know, much of art, and especially in the business of Broadway Musicals, there are many talents never getting their rightful mention. Good listening by the authentic voicing of Jenn Lee’s narration.
