H. P. Lovecraft: “The Dunwich Horror” and “The Thing on the Doorstep”

Considered to the be one of most influential American authors, Howard Philip Lovecraft is synonymous with some of the best fantasy and horror fiction of the twentieth century. In The Dunwich Horror, Wilbur Whateley, the son of a deformed albino mother and an unknown father, matures at an abnormal rate, reaching manhood within a decade. All the while, his sorcerer grandfather indoctrinates him into certain dark rituals and the study of witchcraft. In The Thing at the Doorstep, Daniel Upton confesses to killing his friend Edward Derby, hoping his account will prove he is not a murderer.
