“Corbett’s choice of a light, sometimes childlike, voice for Barbary emphasizes her naïveté and self-centeredness. Her father sounds appropriately stiff, while her mother’s mix of charm and toughness is apparent…A fine interpretation of this period-specific yet timeless novel.”
