Marmalade's First Murder

In small-town Maine, winter isn't the only thing that's deadly.

Retirement has bored Ruth out of her wits, so when the dispatcher job opens at the county jail, she jumps at the chance. There she meets Marmalade, the mysterious Maine coon cat who manages to keep sneaking into the jail-no matter how many times the sheriff kicks her out.

Ruth is glad for the company. After all, not much happens in Moose Head Mills-until the town's most notorious busybody is found frozen to death in her own woodshed. While the rookie sheriff, who is more interested in politics than justice, claims it is an accident, Ruth knows there's more to the story and can't help but look into it.

She doesn't expect her new feline friend to help, but together, they make a formidable team. As the clues pile up and secrets are exposed, Ruth has to knuckle down to find the truth before the killer comes for her next.
