When timid ten-year-old Fanny Price is plucked from her large, raucous, and poor family to live with wealthy relatives in Mansfield Park, her life is changed forever. Finding solace from her status as an outsider in her relationship with her kind cousin Edmund, she develops into a genteel and mature young woman. However, when the attractive but morally bankrupt Crawfords arrive from London, bringing with them a taste for reckless flirtation, relationships go awry with dramatic consequences.

Written with wit and style, and dealing with the oft-taboo theme of adultery, Mansfield Park is the work of a mature Jane Austen at the peak of her powers. A complex and somewhat ambiguous story, Mansfield Park was a revolutionary novel and one of Austen’s most profound works.
